Bright Horizon Daycare Worker Charged With Sexually Abusing Second Child

BERN TOWNSHIP, PA (The Mercury) A 33-year-old Columbia County man is facing charges after two children reported they were sexually abused at a day care center in Bern Township, authorities said. And Berks County District Attorney John T. Adams said Friday that more children will be interviewed. Andrew J. McCollin of Berwick was initially arrested Aug. 30 and charged with indecent assault, corrupting minors and endangering the welfare of a child after a 4-year-old boy told county detectives that McCollin had touched him inappropriately at Creative Beginnings Child Care Center at 2390 Bernville Road, which is part of the Bright Horizons […]

Long-Time Teacher at Herbert Hoover Elementary School Accused of Molesting Young Boys

Four suits with allegations of sex abuse filed against the Kenmore Tonawanda School District alleging a retired Kenmore Tonawanda teacher, Arthur F. Werner, repeatedly molested young boys at Herbert Hoover Elementary School in the early 1970s. BUFFALO NY (THE BUFFALO NEWS) Four lawsuits were filed Friday under the Child Victims Act, alleging that a retired Kenmore Tonawanda teacher repeatedly molested young boys, often in front of an entire room of classmates. The lawsuits filed by four Buffalo-area men all name the Kenmore Tonawanda School District as the defendant, saying district officials either knew or should have known that social studies […]

Survivors of Sexual Abuse Plan to File Lawsuits August 14th

NEW YORK (WRVO) Beginning August 14, New Yorkers who are survivors of childhood sexual abuse will have a one year window of opportunity to file civil suits against their abusers, under the terms of the Child Victims Act passed by the legislature earlier this year. Thousands of cases are expected to be filed, with payouts potentially in the millions.  Gordon Smith was 14 years old when he says he was first abused by two priests at a St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and school in Albany in the early 1960s. He was filling in as a janitor for his father, who […]

Sex Trafficking Mars the Mystique of Cannes Film Festival: “This Crime Is Significantly Underreported”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, each May, young women arrive in the South of France with big-screen ambitions, but even after the Harvey Weinstein scandal and the #MeToo movement, their journey to Hollywood often begins with producers promising movie roles and visas in return for sex. In 2014, Kadian Noble met Harvey Weinstein in the lobby of the Majestic Hotel in Cannes. After some small talk, he instructed the aspiring actress to come upstairs so that he could have a look at her reel. Noble, who was 27 and from the U.K., had previously met the since-disgraced mogul in London, […]

Cardinal George Pell Sentenced to 6 Years in Prison

On March 13, 2019, Judge Peter Kidd announced that Cardinal George Pell has been sentenced to 6 years in prison for sexually abusing two children. He was once the third most powerful man in the Vatican, and Australia’s most senior Catholic. A 34 year old man alleged that when he was 13, in late 1996, Cardinal George Pell sexually abused him and a friend. The two had snuck into a changing room to drink altar wine in the back of St Patrick’s Cathedral in Melbourne. According to the complaint, once Pell entered the room, “He planted himself in the doorway […]

Sex-abusing neurologist’s patients: No justice in Philly

Patients of a neurologist already facing rape charges in New York and New Jersey say law enforcement officials in Philadelphia are burying nearly identical accusations against him, angering and perplexing women who say they’re being victimized twice — first by their doctor, now by a big-city justice system that won’t hold him accountable. A slew of patients who accuse Dr. Ricardo Cruciani of sexual misconduct in Philadelphia have yet to see authorities pursue a felony case against him, even after police in New York City and New Jersey investigated their claims and swiftly filed charges that could put him away […]

Amazon, You Need to Take “Cosby” Off Prime Video Right Now

Someone at Amazon missed a very important memo. One week ago, Bill Cosby was convicted of sexual assault. Earlier today, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences voted to expel Cosby and Roman Polanski, another convicted rapist. Yet inexplicably, three of Cosby’s television shows are still available for streaming on Amazon Prime. And Polanski’s film “The Ninth Gate” is on HBO Now. Why? Seriously, why? Who still wants to watch the work of men convicted of rape? I’m not in the TV/film business, but there can’t possibly be a market for that. In the #MeToo era, where powerful Hollywood men […]

USA Swimming Covered Up Hundreds Of Sexual Abuse Cases

A lengthy investigative report from the Southern California News Group ― published Friday at one of the group’s newspapers, the Orange County Register ― says that USA Swimming ignored or covered up hundreds of sexual abuse cases over the course of decades. The report is reminiscent of the recent USA Gymnastics scandal involving former team doctor and convicted pedophile Larry Nassar ― where the people in power cared only about winning and safeguarding the sport’s image, subsequently protecting and enabling an abuser to prey on young athletes.  Citing court documents and internal communications, the SCNG report says USA Swimming enabled hundreds of predators, most of whom […]
