A National Law Firm for Victims of Sexual Abuse, Handling cases across the Country

Herman Law has attorneys who are admitted in NY, FL and the California bar (see lawyer bios ). This allows the Herman Law attorneys, if they are not already admitted to the court, to apply to appear as attorneys of record in all 50 States of the United States and Puerto Rico, as well as all Federal District Courts, by requesting that the judge presiding over a case permit them to appear Pro Hac Vice (“for this occasion only”).

Often we do this in association with a knowledgeable local attorney in that jurisdiction who provides insight into local legal custom and practice and assists in the logistics for matters in that jurisdiction.

Former Baptist Pastor Sentenced to Prison for Child Sex Abuse

Oct 4, 2017 - Clergy Abuse, News by

Texarkana, AR – David Wayne Farren was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading guilty to seven counts of first-degree sexual assault, one count of second –degree sexual abuse and a misdemeanor count of violating mandatory reporting requirements.

According to one of the victims, the incidents took place in 2013, but she was urged to come forward in 2016 because she was afraid Farren was grooming another minor.  She originally confided in Farren while he was youth minister at Trinity Church, telling him she had been sexually abused by someone in the past.  Farren never reported the allegation to the police, which is required by law for someone in his position.

The victim reported Farren first touched her sexually when she was babysitting his children shortly before her 17th birthday.  This led to nearly 20 instances of intercourse which occurred at his house when his wife was away or in his garage if she was home.  Farren told the victim he could not divorce his wife because it was a sin.

A second victim came forward telling detectives Farren sexually abused her when she was 15, after her father passed away.  Farren was her youth minister at Faith Baptist Church.  The assaults occurred until she was a college freshman.

Farren received nine 15-year sentences, which will run concurrently.  Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Connie Mitchell told the Texarkana Gazette the two victims approved of the state’s arrangement, sparing them the trauma of testifying in public trial.

It was very brave of these two women to come forward against their abuser.  Detectives are unaware if there are other victims.
