Florida AG Bondi launches site for tips on past sex abuse by priests
ttorney General Pam Bondi has launched a tip site as part of an ongoing investigation of past sex abuse by Catholic priests.
The investigation is getting help from the Department of Law Enforcement in reviewing the state’s seven Catholic dioceses.
“FDLE will work with the Office of Statewide Prosecution and State Attorneys to independently review records of the Catholic Church to ensure any allegations have been reported and investigated,” said FDLE Commissioner Rick Swearingen in a statement.
Tips can be reported confidentially online at MyFloridaLegal.com/StopAbuse
The investigation, according to Bondi’s office, was triggered by recent grand jury findings in Pennsylvania that detailed more than 1,000 accounts of abuse and 301 priests who abused children.
