Former Our Lady of Mount Carmel students accuse old basketball coach of sexual abuse

(NEWS 12 – Bronx, NY) Five former students at Our Lady of Mount Carmel have filed lawsuits against the school and the Archdiocese of New York. The students claim that former basketball coach Rudy Tremaroli sexually abused them over the span of 15 years. Tremaroli is now dead. They also claim that school administrators and religious leaders failed to act when notified of the crime. The lawsuits were filed by Herman Law under the Child Victims Act. Lawyer for Abuse Victims Demands New York Archdiocese Release ‘Predator Priest’ Data

14 Syracuse-area Students Allegedly Molested by Former Olympian Conrad Mainwaring

NEW YORK (Syracuse.com) Former Olympic hurdler Conrad Mainwaring, who was arrested in June in Los Angeles on a charge of sexual misconduct, has been accused of molesting 14 boys in the Syracuse area, according to an ESPN report Thursday. Ex-priest who got teen pregnant can keep job as middle school teacher

According to the New York Post, a New Jersey teacher who once had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl and got her pregnant — all while he was a Catholic priest — can keep his middle-school job, an arbitrator ruled. Former Rev. Joseph DeShan, 59, began teaching in the Cinnaminson school district in 1996 — six years after he impregnated the teen, who worked in his parish rectory in Bridgeport, Conn., the state ruling said.
