NY Senators ask colleagues to extend Child Victims Act amid COVID-19

Advocates of the Child Victims Act (CVA) as well as child abuse victims themselves are currently urging lawmakers to extend the lookback window of the  Child Victims Act (CVA) for another year, which would give adult victims of childhood sexual abuse more time to file legal actions against their perpetrators. Youth Mentor and Leader convicted of soliciting sex from a minor asks for early release from prison due to COVID-19

    In what’s become a trend in these current times due to CORONA, another sex abuse offender is asking for release due to COVID-19. One of the former Louisville Metro Police officers convicted of federal and state crimes in the department’s youth Explorer sex scandal, Brandon Wood, has asked this week for a “compassionate release” from prison because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Wife of Child molester suing Church for $9.5 Million despite fact that father sexually abused their own daughter

  An Oregon man is currently serving 15 years for sexually abusing a little girl  after he confessed to a clergy member of the The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He confessed to the.crime in 2016  to “repent for his sins”(under the eyes of God and to seek spiritual healing) “to bring peace within his life and family.” He was  arrested and charged in 2017 and convicted in 2018 of four counts of second-degree sexual abuse. Trump’s ex lawyer, currently serving 3 year prison sentence, requests to be home for fear of COVID-19

Michael Cohen, Trump’s prior lawyer, who is currently serving a prison sentence has asked to be placed at home because of the fear of coronavirus in federal lockup. Federal prosecutors with the Southern District of New York argued Cohen’s request  was no different than any other inmate and there are no circumstances to prove he should have any special treatment. Courts in New York halt hearings may effect Child Victims Act

  One of the country’s largest and busiest court system, in New York, has stopped filing and cases that aren’t essential. The New York court system said it will begin holding virtual hearings all in response to the COVID-19.
