Several sex abuse lawsuits filed under Child Victims Act against Catholic priests in the Diocese of Ogdensburg

    Over 20 adult victims of child sex abuse by Catholic Priests have filed lawsuits under the Child Victims Act, which is an Act that allows victims to sue no matter how long ago the abuse occurred. These lawsuits  claim abuse by several Catholic priests in the Diocese of Ogdensburg, which includes the North Country.  For the first time, there are 7 priests named, who worked during periods spanning between 1961- 1989,  including clerics who served in Malone, Dannemora, Lowville, Massena, Schroon Lake, Parishville, Potsdam, and Crown Point. Diocese of Buffalo denied small business loan amid sex abuse allegations

    The Buffalo Diocese, informed 23 Buffalo priests that they will no longer receive health care as part of bankruptcy negotiations. The priests have been suspended  due to substantiated sex abuse allegations. As of May 1, the 23 Buffalo priests that have been on leave because of abuse claims have been informed by Bishop Edward B. Scharfenberger  that thier regular checks from the diocese would stop. Trial of former Danbury Priest accused of sexually assaulting two young boys on hold due to COVID-19

Jaime Marin-Cardona, 51, is a former priest accused of sexually assaulting at least two young boys in 2014 when he was a priest at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church on Golden Hill Road. He is originally from Colombia.  His Pre trial was scheduled for April 24 but due to COVID-19 it has been rescheduled to June 19. Roseville Church strikes controversy during COVID-19 amid sex abuse allegations

     Pastor Doug Bird  has already faced major controversy because he refused to close  his Roseville Church services during the COVID-19 pandemic but now he faces additional  controversy.  Abundant Life Fellowship had already been dealing with a lawsuit which alleges that the Church Youth Director alleging a  had repeatedly sexually assaulted a 16-year-old boy who was a church member. High Court Overturns sex abuse conviction of High Ranking Catholic Official Cardinal Pell

  Australia’s High Court unanimously overturned the conviction of Cardinal George Pell and he has been freed from prison. Pell had been convicted of five counts of historical child sex abuse. Online Child sex abuse to increase during COVID-19

    The number of online child sexual abuse cases during Covid-19 could spike according to The National Crime Agency (NCA) and intelligence  from recent weeks shows that  there are at least 300,000 people in the UK who pose a sexual threat to children. Lawyer with Corona Virus causes Mistrial for Sex abuse accused Doctor

    The corona virus is affecting more people than originally thought, including  a doctor accused of sexual abuse. Justice Ruth Pickholz, a Manhattan Judge, stopped the trial of Eric Braverman, accused sex abuser, after his lawyer showed up to the Manhattan Supreme Court with coronavirus symptoms such as coughing, fatigue and a high fever.  His lawyer, Vogelman, tried to examine the defense witness from a speakerphone from a conference room on the 16th floor instead of appearing in the courtroom.
