NY Governor 5 Month extension of Child Victims Act not long enough

  Governor Cuomo announced an executive order to extend the CVA (Child Victims Act) which is a law from August 2019 that allowed victims of child sex abuse a one year lookback window to file suits against their perpetrators regardless of previous  statue of limitations . Because the courts have been closed due to COVID-19 the Governor announced he will extend the window to file an expired or time barred case under the Child Victim’s Act. Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown Priests accused of sexually abusing kids dating back to the 1970’s

  Timothy Paul McGettigan, from Texas  claims he was sexually abused and tortured by several priests in a church basement in the 1970s. He is suing the Roman Catholic Diocese of Allentown and one of its churches, St. Catharine of Siena in Reading. The 2018 Pennsylvania grand jury report exposed the Allentown Diocese priests of unreported sexual abuse by clergy across the state, which is what gave McGettigan the idea to come forward., once he realized he was not the only victim. Lawsuit against University Of Michigan alleging decades of College doctor sex abuse against student athletes

  The University of Michigan  has been facing lawsuits amidst hundreds of allegations that the sports doctor employed in the mid 1960’s -2003, Dr. Robert Anderson, sexually abused student athletes while working there dating back to the 1970’s. The investigations began when campus police started looking into allegations against Dr Anderson that were brought to attention after a former student athlete wrote to the athletic director in 2018 about being molested by Anderson during medical exams in the early 1970’s. Poland’s Roman Catholic Church asks Vatican to investigate sex abuse spanning decades

  Archbishop Wojciech Polak, the head of Poland’s Roman Catholic Church,  is asking the Vatican to investigate the cover-up of child sexual abuse by priests after the release of a documentary on the subject this weekend. The film is about the story of two brothers who want to confront a priest who allegedly abused them when they were children. The Vatican is expected to assign an investigator to the case. Former St Tammany Sheriff accused of sexually abusing young boy

A former St Tammany Parish Sheriff Rodney “Jack” Strain is accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a 6 year old decades ago.   Mark Finn, now age 50,  is One of the alleged victims of sexual abuse filing a civil lawsuit. Insurance company does not want to pay Catholic non profit sexual abuse claims

  Markel Insurance Co., based in  Illinois, has sued Holy Family Institute, a Roman Catholic nonprofit, arguing that it is not obligated to  defend the Catholic Institute from allegations that it concealed alleged sexual abuse by priests in the 1970s and 1980s. State Supreme Court justice ruled the New York’s Child Victims Act constitutional

  Yesterday, A state Supreme Court justice ruled the New York’s Child Victims Act constitutional. The CVA, which has given survivors of sexual abuse that were previously not able to file civil suit due to statute of limitations restrictions, an opportunity to file decades-old complaints against their alleged offenders. The CVA is a window to file a civil case. Ohio State university to pay out $42 Million in settlements for sex abuse by School Doctor

Friday Ohio State University announced  that 162 men will receive a payout of $40.9 million as a settlement for lawsuits against  Richard Strauss, a longtime athletics doctor at the school, for sexually abusing them when they were students. The investigation began in 2018 amid allegations against Strauss who had worked-as a doctor at Ohio State University from 1978-1998 and  committed suicide in 2005 at age 67. Philadelphia Archdiocese to pay $126 to sex abuse victims in order to prevent civil suits

    The Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Philadelphia Independent Reconciliation and Reparations Program which was set up in 2018 to pay settlements of 615 sex absue claims  said  it expects to pay $126 million to sexual-abuse victims under the reparations program. This averages to be about $211,000 per claim which is the average of what other dioceses have been paying under such programs. The Roman Catholic Archdiocese still has @20 million in reserves to pay for the sex abuse claims and plans to raise money through property sales and loans. Former Football player at U. of Michigan accuses team doctor of sexual assault back in the 1970’s

    Chuck Christian, a former tight end for one of the most decorated college football programs in the country, has stage 4 prostate cancer which has spread to his tailbone, ribs , hips , spine and shoulder.
