Even if you were sexually abused many years ago, it’s important to speak to a sex abuse lawyer.
And the reason that’s important is because every state is different, and every state has what’s called a different statute of limitations which is the deadline by which when you have to file your civil case for sexual abuse. And so, you should speak to a lawyer, who can explain to you and give you advice about whether or not you may still bring the claim. For example, in many states even though the statute of limitations may have expired, there are sometimes these ethical doctrines of law that can be used to get around the statute of limitations. And so, it may be possible even though you were sexually abused years and even decades ago, to bring a case today.
